2009 Site Layout

Today I launched the 2009 design for the site. It is a significant step forward in a lot of ways, including:

  • Better support for mobile phone browsers (sarally.com.au on your phone! YAY!)
  • Suckerfish drop down menus which have better cross browser compatibility
  • More attractive, easier to navigate layout

I'm still looking at refining the design of certain aspects (upcoming events, forum, image gallery), and will be introducing a new front page layout as soon as Panels 3 is released for Drupal 6.

In the meantime if anyone has any feedback on the new design and any ways they think it can be improved, let me know.

Just a quick note on the new

Just a quick note on the new layout, cross browser compatability testing went very well. So well in fact that we were able to launch a couple of days earlier than planned. The only browsers I have found issue with are VERY old browsers that our statistics show none of our visitors use. This includes fatal bugs in Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 3 and 4.01, slight design bugs in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01, 5.5 and 6, and our new menus aren't supported by Internet Explorer versions prior to 6.

For this reason we can't support these older browsers, and in our defence Microsoft no longer supports most of these (there is still support for IE6 on certain platforms). We highly recommend that you don't use browsers this old for a variety of reasons, including security concerns.

We have verified that the site works on the latest version of all major browsers (Firefox 3.0.8, Internet Explorer 8, Google Chrome 1, Opera 9.64 and Safari 4).

That said if you experience any problems at all please let me know. Screenshots will also be much appreciated!
