Historic Rally Group SA - Navigation School
The HRG will be conducting a short nav school on Tuesday night 9th of March.
Venue: Parente Cafe 275 Paynehem Rd Royston Park
Time: 7.30 pm
Presenters of the school will be Jeremy Browne, Geoff Ninnes and Reg Marrett.
Topics covered in the two hours will be:
Definition of trials and event types
* What is a trial?
Maps and mapping
* Scaling, plotting, corner calling
* Route Charts
* Basic map reading
Maps tricks and tips
* unmapped roads
* getting lost/unlost
* realignments
Advanced navigation
* Chickens and their feet
* map traces
* successive junctions
* inside the devious mind of the Director
Navigator preparation
* Terratrip or pleasant ride?
* Compasses
* what to take in the car
* mal de mer or Navigatorus Chunderitis and how to avoid it ruining your night
There will also be a practical exercise to display your newly learned or rekindled talents on Sunday March 21st.
Starting and finishing at the Seaford Shopping Centre at 12 noon.
This will be a leisurely 50 km wander around the Southern Vales on the maps used in the Nav School. Drinks and discussion at the Seaford Tavern after

Small piece (A4) of tracing paper
CFS and Emergency Services Map Book Mt Lofty Ranges if you have it otherwise all maps will be supplied.
