Learning Rally SA for Tyler

Guy Tyler getting air at Scouts Rally SA

Young SA driver Guy Tyler contested the Scouts Rally of South Australia last weekend.

Held in the stunning Adelaide hills, Guy and Co-Driver Andrew Challen entered both the South Australian Rally Championship (SARC) and the Junior Australian Rally Challenge (JARC).

Being only Guy’s second rally in his new Lancer Evo, a more mature approach was required to reach the finish of such a challenging event. "While it was a tad frustrating to see my fellow competitors gaining time on me, I had to sit back and realise that I am still learning, and slowly build up my speed and get the car to the finish".

Despite this, Tyler managed to score a stage win in the JARC and posted several top three SARC times during the course of the rally. Guy and Andrew ended up finishing a respectable 8th in the SARC and a great 3rd in the 4wd JARC.

"I would like to thank the organisers and volunteers who put this event together, as well as the JARC winners- Sandy Nott (4wd) and Rowan Wollard (2wd)" Honourable mention must also go to Tristan Kent who finished only 2 points off of Sandy in the 4wd section, and a great 4th outright in the ARC.

The focus for Guy now turns to the Coffs Coast Rally, which is the next round of the Australian Rally Championship, and doubles as a support event for the Coffs Harbour World Rally Championship round.

The team are very exited about having the chance to compete with the WRC guys, and hope to use the rally to further increase their experience and gain more national and potentially international exposure.
