Yokohama Alpine Rally to have live Web coverage

Pure Motorsport

The Yokohama Alpine gets bigger and better every event and this year is no exception running a full field of 120 of Australia’s best Classic Rally Cars and crews.

For those people not lucky enough to make it to East Gippsland for the Yokohama Alpine you will now be able to watch it live on the Internet thanks to Pure Motorsport. There will be some live coverage and lots of in-car video available for download across the whole weekend. Ryan Jones from Pure Motorsport said he was excited about the opportunity to cover Australia’s premier classic rally. He added that it is a great opportunity to showcase the sport of rallying on a worldwide platform. Check out their coverage of Rally SA at http://puremotorsport.tv/

In other news the Yokohama Alpine Rally has a fantastic new Rally HQ at Forestech in Kalimna West. A campus of East Gippsland TAFE, Forestech offers highly specialised education for students intending to build careers based on living resources such as forestry, fishing and ecotourism. For the Alpine Rally Forestech offers great operational facilities, a cafe and even a lecture theatre for crew briefings. Clerk of Course Stuart Lister is particularly happy about the location of HQ as the first spectator point is right behind the building, reminiscent of the Bright speedway proximity to HQ in the 1980’s. “I might actually get to see some action this event” he commented.

Another exciting change is the choice of finish location and venue for Sunday afternoon, Lakes Entrance Golf Club will play host to the finish function as the event has outgrown the previously used facilities at Kalimna Hotel. There will be a great post event dinner and lots of opportunities to reminisce and congratulate the provisional winners.

Event organisers will also hold a social event at The Lakes Entertainment Centre on Friday 13th November for anyone involved with the rally. It will be an opportunity for the Lakes Entrance community to join in and get a taste of what classic rallying is all about. There will be video footage of past Alpines, a forum of past Alpine winners and contestants and an auction and raffle to raise funds for the local CFA brigades who will be on hand at the many refuel locations over the course of the event. And most importantly the start order for Saturday will be announced at 9.30pm.
