Sandy Nott takes Scouts Rally SA

Sandy Nott / David Langfield Evo IV Scouts Rally SA 2012

Sandy Nott and David Langfield have delivered a superb effort in difficult conditions to win round 4 of the South Australian Rally Championship, the Scouts Rally SA. Despite extremely slippery stage conditions in the Mt Crawford and Kuitpo forest areas where the rally was held, Nott and Langfield climbed to first place and just managed to hold off the charge from second place Declan Dwyer and Craig Adams in their Evo 6.

40 years on, Browne and ‘Butter Bug’ to celebrate Scouts Rally SA anniversary

Jeremy Browne / Naomi Tillett - Mini Cooper S

Scouts Rally SA next weekend will mark a special anniversary for Jeremy Browne – he’ll be competing in the same Morris Cooper S he drove in the 1972 event!

But even though the Adelaide driver doesn’t expect to be an outright contender in the national or State championship divisions of the rally, this time he hopes to finish, unlike 40 years ago.

“In 1972 the steering broke, putting us out,” Browne recalled.

The Cooper S was nicknamed Butter Bug in honour of Browne’s then sponsor, dairy products company Amscol (long since closed), but in 1973 it went into storage in a shed.

Young South Australian Driver, James Rodda and the Rally Power Motorsport Team are ready for battle in the upcoming round 4 of the Bosch Australian Rally Championship, Scouts Rally SA.

21 year old Rodda, driving the 1999 Subaru Wrx will be aiming to take the last remaining place in the final of the Rallyschool.com.au Australian Junior Challenge to be held in Coffs Harbor in October. In addition Rodda and the team will be looking to defend their current South Australian Rally Championship lead, although keeping a modest outlook with the competition very close!
